I think in order to fully know and understand Stormi and Miso, you have to know their daily routine and habits.
First think they do in the morning, is wake me up because they are hungry. They usually jump on my bed and sit on my face or chest and just stare at me until I wake up. Miso will sit on my chest and then slowly inch her way onto my face and her whiskers will tickle me awake. After it’s clear to them that I am up, they will start meowing and walk all around me and my pillow. If I get up, Stormi will try to ‘lead’ me to her food bowl and meowing. So then I feed them and usually change out their water too.
After I do that, they usually follow me around the apartment, to the bathroom when i’m getting ready for the day, to the closet when I’m getting dresses, and they sit and watch me make breakfast and eat it. When I eat breakfast, Miso will usually sit in a chair next to me or she will climb all over the table and counters which she’s not allowed to do. Overall they like to stare at me a lot.
Then I will usually go to school, or work. Because I am gone, I’m not sure exactly what they do but fairly certain that they just lie around and nap most of the day. I know that is what Stormi would do before I got Miso. But since I got Miso, her and Stormi are best friends now, a lot of times they will entertain each other while I am gone. Since Stormi is older, she tends to sleep more and take lots of naps. But since Miso is still just a kitten, she has boundless energy and many days, she will climb on my counters and tables or knock the trash over or knock down things like my lego flowers. She will knock a bunch of stuff over and then she will go and play with it until she gets bored and moves on to something else. I know all of this because when I get home, the evidence will be all of the floor.
When I do come home after a few hours, I will cuddle with them and try to play with them a little bit to get some energy out. I say ‘try’ because I need to buy them some more toys because they are either bored of the toys they have or they have destroyed their toys.
Right now, I am currently trying to leash train Miso (more content on that later!) so I will try to take out of my apartment in her little harness and leash in order to get her used to it. She has so much energy all the time so I am trying to train her to walk on a leash so I can walk the energy out of her so she stops breaking things and messing up my room. My apartment building has a zen garden type of courtyard in the middle of it, so I try taking Miso there because its completely walled in so if she escapes her harness, she can’t escape and get lost. Strangely enough, she’s scared of walking in the hallways in my apartment building and she’s scared of elevators. But once I take her to the courtyard area, she has been walking pretty good on the leash. Once she improves, I am hoping to take her to a park or walk her around my university campus.
I have tried to leash train Stormi, but she has not really shown any interest in leaving my apartment space and she doesn’t ever even go near the door. She also doesn’t have as much energy as Miso so I don’t really feel the need to force her to do something and go somewhere that she clearly doesn’t want to go.
After the walk, I usually go back and make myself dinner and the cats will watch me like they usually do. Then I will do homework and usually one or both of the cats will snuggle with me which is really cute but at the same time sometimes it makes it impossible to actually do my homework without pushing her off my lap.
Now it’s bedtime! Usually the cats won’t sleep with me in bed. I think it’s because I toss and turn too much for them. Miso will someone sleep behind my head on the pillow. But I am ever so slightly allergic to cats so I don’t like having her super close to my face because it will make me sneeze a lot. Under my bed I have two suitcases that the cats really like to sleep in. I think the reason for this is that they can sleep close to me without actually being on the bed with me.
